Sorry to tease. But we must pause on our way to the top of the stairs on the sand dune covered with woods and snow, to look at a seed pod. I don't know what tree it fell from, do you? Some chestnut?

UPDATE: Alice and Deslilas tell me this casing is from a beech tree. I was ashamed to find this out because I treasure beech trees, and I didn't recognize this bit.
