Same post as here, which some thought was a coconut tree. I doubt you'll mistake this one for a coconut tree.

Alas, nothing so exotic as that. It's a post on the front porch of our 100-year-old house, which also has this window. From these photos you can see neglect on this little porch, which we inherited at purchase and three years on have done nothing to change. If you read the comments on those other two posts, you'll see the spectrum of those who wouldn't change the textured patina for anything to those who are itching to scrape and paint.

Whatever end you fall into, or in between (like those who like it on someone else's house), may this be a visual symbol for the start of your week, either to be productive and make a difference, or accept things as they are and find beauty in them (or both, a la Niebuhr and his serenity prayer).

This goes out with a big smile to my sister, Ginnie, fellow photoblogger, Flying daily commentor, and intrepid peeler of paint and wallpaper.
