 Rembrandt tulip Centennial Park, Tulip Time, Holland, Michigan According to this tulip site, the Rembrandt tulip was never painted by Rembrandt. And also, the source of the flamed colors of the Rembrandt tulip was the Mosaic virus. I think most of you know the tulip was first found by Europeans in Turkey and didn't make it to Holland until the 1500s. During the 'Tulipomania period' (1636-1637) the rich Dutch would pay the price of a canal house for one tulip. Think of that next time you stroll along your canals in Amsterdam, Ginnie!
