Glen Haven beach

Glen Haven beach

This is not to be confused with Grand Haven beach, which I photographed a month ago in the iced beach series.

On our weekend in northwest Michigan we stopped along Lake Michigan as much as possible to appreciate the varied blues in the water. This photo is no lie. In fact it doesn't begin to show the shades of blue and green that are visible all around the 'little finger' of the state. It's the sand that keeps the water so clear and colorful.

I'm adding this after my initial post. I forgot to mention that the island on the right is one of the Manitou Islands, one of the sleeping bears. Read about the legend here.

Also, my posting is a bit out of cycle. I've posted two days in a row for the next day, and it has appeared on the current day. So I haven't had the normal 24 hours between posts I normally have. I've alerted my-epxressions about it.
